Holy Trinity Church, Southall, Verenigde Koninkryk

Meer as 'n spoorwegouditeur

Toe William Welch Deloitte in 1845 Deloitte & amp.

. . as 'n ouditeur wat in daardie dae baie grens aan 'n spekulatiewe avontuur. .

Chokshi & amp., 1965.

" Hendrina Westoll, Of Ledgers and Legends: The Story of Deloitte South Africa.

TENNEY “ LAAGWAPENS ” STOEL

My raaiskoot is dat daar moontlik 'n metaalplaatjie aangebring is.

USS Pennewill

Alus tilattiin Newarkista New Jerseystä Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Companyltä, missä köli laskettiin 26. huhtikuuta 1943. Alus laskettiin vesille 8. elokuuta kumminaan Lucie Reilly Pennewill ja otettiin palvelukseen 15. syyskuuta ensimmäisenä päällikkönään John Edward Allen. [1]

Tuona aikana aluksella oli joitakin erikoistehtäviä kuten suojata 25.–27. joulukuuta Yhdysvaltain laivaston joukkojenkuljetusalus USS State of Marylandia Trinidadista San Juaniin Puerto Ricoon ja 21.–22. tammikuuta brittiläistä tankkeria Destinyä Recifen edustalla TG41.4 tankkauksen aikana. [1]

Brasilian laivasto nimesi aluksen CTE Bertiogaksi (hawe.

Gibson ES-175 Variations

Gibson ES-175 Special Wurlitzer (1955)

The ES-175 Special Wurlitzer was a custom-ordered ES-175 that was thinner than the standard ES-175 and trimmed out like a Les Paul.

The guitar was custom made for guitarist Andy Nelson who worked as a clinician and in sales for Gibson in the 1950s.

Nelson pitched this streamlined ES-175 model to Wurlitzer stores and even ran a spot on WBBN radio that Wurlitzer sponsored. Though we know them today for jukeboxes and pianos, in the mid 20th century the Rudolph Wurlitzer company was a musical instrument distributor and dealer.

Gibson ES-295 (1952-1959)

Price Range: $2,600 – $18,600

The ES-295 Archtop is essentially an ES-175 with decorative gold paint and a variety of decorative details. A sunburst version exists as well.

The ES-295 is made famous by Scotty Moore, the guitar player of Elvis Presley.

Featuring the same body specs as the ES-175, the ES-295 featured:

    • Two P-90 pickups with white covers. In 1957 the P-90s were replaced by Humbuckers. The humbucker version of the ES-295 is more valuable for collectors, that’s why you can expect to pay a minimum of $13,400 for a 58 ES-295.
    • A clear pickguard which was back-painted with a decorative design.
    • The floating bridge of the ES-175 was replaced with a trapeze tailpiece with the strings looping over the bridge.

Unfortunately, the decorative gold paint did not stand up well to wear.

Gibson ES-165 Herb Ellis Signature Model (1991-2013)

    Price Range: $1,600 – $2,200

The Gibson ES-165 Herb Ellis signature was actually a re-release of the 1953 ES-175 that Ellis played for years.

Originally, the ES-165 came out with a single Gibson 490R humbucker, and single volume and tone control.

In 2004, the ES-165 was re-released, but this time with the Gibson 490R humbucker being replaced by a BJB floating humbucker. The volume control was moved to the surface of the pickguard.

    Gibson ES-775 (1990-1993)

    Price Range: $2,500 – $6,000

The Gibson ES-775 is an upscale version of the ES-175 and was shortly produced between 1990 and 1993.

The guitar features a three-piece maple neck, gold-plated metal, and an ebony fingerboard.

The ES-775 sounds a bit mellower compared to the ES-175 because the neck pickup is closer to the fingerboard.

    Seven Years’ War: Background

In the early 1750s, French expansion into the Ohio River valley repeatedly brought France into armed conflict with the British colonies. In 1756, the first official year of fighting in the Seven Years’ War, the British suffered a series of defeats against the French and their broad network of Native American alliances. However, in 1757, British Prime Minister William Pitt (1708), often called William Pitt the Elder, recognized the potential of imperial expansion that would come out of victory against the French and borrowed heavily to fund an expanded war effort. Pitt financed Prussia’s struggle against France and its allies in Europe and reimbursed the colonies for the raising of armies in North America.

Het jy geweet? Quebec is the largest Canadian province by area, and the only one whose sole official language is French.

9/11 Attacks on New York and Washington, D.C.

At 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2001, an American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City, instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping many more on the building’s higher floors. Eighteen minutes later, a second Boeing 767 appeared out of the sky, turned sharply toward the World Trade Center and sliced into the south tower. As millions watched the events unfolding in New York in horror, American Airlines Flight 77 circled over downtown Washington, D.C. and slammed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters at 9:45 a.m. Less than 15 minutes after the terrorists struck the nerve center of the U.S. military, the situation in New York took a catastrophic turn for the worse when the south tower of the World Trade Center collapsed in a massive cloud of dust and smoke. At 10:30 a.m. the north tower also gave way. Faced with the knowledge that the United States was under attack, the nation’s air traffic controllers began a frantic attempt to wrest back control of America’s skies.

The ship was decommissioned on this date. I didn’t find any other Navy Muster roll records for him after this. I also couldn’t find a Veterans burial record that might have told me when he left the service.

There isn’t much available about the Pennewill at all. Here’s the link to find out a little bit about the Anteus: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Antaeus_(AG-67)

I sponsor the soldier william E Murray (36479306), killed in action on September 15, 1944 and buried in the American cemetery at Epinal (Vosges, France). I look for his family and all possible information about this hero. Thanks for your help.

Pvt. Murray was the only son of William Eugene Murray and Ida Mae Brockman Murray. They lived in Granite City, Illinois. Pvt. Murray was born on 3 June 1924 at Granite City. This information is from census records and other records at ancestry.com. Thank you for your sponsorship.

My father was Milton P. Geller, he served with the 1st Army, 18th Infantry. I have his Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart, as well as his Citation Letter for the Silver Star. I’d love to know what he got the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for…he never talked about any of it. Born 1920, enlisted in 1938, fought Rommel in Africa, landed at Normandy in the second wave, and liberated Nordhausen concentration camp. I have incredible photos that he took at Nordhausen and during D-Day training in England. How do I find his Citations for the Bronze Star and Purple Heart? Are there any websites with more information on the 18th Infantry of the Big Red 1?

I am unable to help you with finding why he received those recognitions, but was wondering what company he was in. My grandfather was also in the 1st, 18th Division in Company C and I have been looking for many many years for more about him. Would love to know if maybe he is pictured in any of the photos you have.

You could try writing to the National Archives and Records Administration. You can fill out a request on the internet, since you are his next of kin. If his records are available, they might be considered archival if he left the service more than 62 years from the date of your request, which means it might cost some money (probably less than $100). They might have burned in the 1973 fire, but it’s worth trying, because I’ve heard that they’ve reconstructed some of the records from other sources. http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/

My family recently inherited a storage unit full of old clothes and other personal things. We came across a set of dog tags that we are unsure who they belonged to.
    The tags say:

    Kramer Frances L
    US Nat
    T55 56 F
    Protestant

We’d love to know about the person they belonged to.

Are these items that belong to a female? I found a Frances Kramer but I’ve got a feeling it’s not the right one, based on dates and service.

It appears that Frances L Kramer was probably a civilian employee or a military spouse. The US Nat is short for US National. Spouses and civilian employees were required to have ID tags in order to fly on military aircraft.

In which city was the storage unit located? That might help us narrow it down.

Woops, posted the question under the wrong place. Can you please tell us what city the storage unit was in? It might help us narrow it down. I found a lot of Frances Kramer listings in Florida.

Hallo! I’m proud to say that I am named after two brave WWII veterans. I know a lot about my great grandfather, Paul Griffith Stromberg Sr. who commanded a Maryland Guard unit and survived the war to go on to find the Howard County MD Newspaper and run for public office. I’ve always wanted more information on my Great Uncle, Lt. Paul Griffith Stromberg Jr. He served I BELIEVE with the 14th Air Force and was assigned to the 443rd troop carrier group as a co-pilot in June of 1945. His pilot and friend, Edwin F Thompson wrote a memoir called “Lucky Me” which features my uncle prominently as his friend and co-pilot of about 3 years. Sadly there’s a section called “Loss of a friend” which goes into scant detail about how my uncle died in a crash just after takeoff on just his 2nd flight as a main pilot at the age of 24. Lt. Thompson was clearly devastated as my uncle seemed to be his best friend during war-time. I love looking into family history and this is the first time I’ve found a good amount of info on my uncle. I was hoping to find anyone with a connection to the 14th Air Force or 443rd Troop Carrier Group or Lt Edwin F Thompson who lived a full life after the war. Any connection or information would be incredibly appreciated. A HUGE thank you for your service to any and all veterans who take the time to read this and thank you to any fellow civilians who have taken the time out of their day to read this as well.

You may be able to obtain the IDPF (Individual Deceased Personnel File) for your great uncle from the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. It takes several months for NPRC to respond.

You may also be able to obtain a copy of the accident report from http://www.accident-report.com. They charge for this service.

My wife and I found a Purple Heart given to Private Virgil K. Elliott, Army serial # 37664425. K.I.A. in Europe 10/07/1944, all related documents. We would like to return to any family members.

Virgil K Elliott was from Fairfield IA. He was a member of the 401st Glider Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne. According to family trees on Ancestry.com he did not have any children but does have living nieces and nephews. The trees that he appears on are maintained by distant relatives. I could try contacting them to see if they have any information on any of the living relatives.

My father Donald Sweeney from Winooski, VT. Enlisted on Dec 30, 1946 in the Army. He was a TEC 5 in the European Theater. Dad was a Light Mortar Crewman and guarded and patroled in Coburg Germany. His duties were setting up check points, speed traps and looking for black marketeers. His separation was on June 16, 1948 at Camp Kilmer in NJ. As a self absorbed kid I never asked him about his time there. I would love to here from anyone who knew him during that time in Germany

I live in WA state. I’m looking for any information on locating local ww2 veterans. As you know, we are losing them at an alarming rate. My son and I would like to serve and honor them while we can as well as possibly recording their stories. If you can help in any way we would appreciate it.

Looking for Calvin Bennett 790 78 77 who served in the USN during WWII. My mother Ada would like to know how what became of him after all these years.

We are looking for Philip E Hull Ww2 dog tags. Also, we would like to be in contact with those who knew him.

End of 1944, he was station at Camp Maxey as a guard. Then went to Indiantown PA (via Camp Gruber). March 25, 1945′ sailed on Queen Elizabeth, to Scotland, to South Hamptom, to LaHavre, the to Hellcats as a Tech 5. Sometime he was part of 2nd army (Lt Crouse) and then then 1st. After the war, he was a typist. He said one of his jobs was processing women that came from death camps.

On the Elizabeth, he slept in a swimming pool and worked in the officers mess.

He played ping pong and read a lot.
At time of enlistment, He lived in Richford NY but, prior to WWII, he lived in Africa, England, Alaska and California.

After the war, he was on leave, hitchhiking from Gerund to Stuttgard. He got a ride with two fellows, he was in passenger set. They had a wreck–I believe a bridge was not strong enough. My Father said he was sole survivor.

I have an army jacket which my South African grandfather traded his own for with an American. There is a number in it. G-6949 and this is written in a larger F. A bit hard to explain but if anyone knows anything about numbers or codes that could help, I would be so grateful.

The G-6949 is a laundry mark. It consists of the first letter of the last name and the last four digits of the service number. There was a website that would allow for a search using this information but it does not appear to be working.

Wow, I looked at that website and there’s at least 41 individuals with that laundry mark. Think you might be out of luck in running this one to the ground. Would take a world of research to get through that list. Much luck in your endeavors.

My dad served in the 8th Army during World War ll in the Philippines and in occupied Japan. He received at least one Bronze Star, maybe two. Looking for anyone who may have served during this time-a long shot I know, or anyone who knows anything about the 8th Army or Robert E. Kirk and World War ll. Thank you in advance.

My father served in World War II and Im trying to find anyone and/or anything about him during that time. I dont know, just want to connect to ones who may have known him. William Francis Dyer. Im not sure which ship he served on, was 17 years old I believe. He and his best friend hoped to be on ship together but as my father could not use his step fathers last name (Holter) he had to go by Dyer (spelling) and never saw his best friend again – that ship went down. the men on it first initials of last name were G, H. Dad passed away in 1995, never talked of service, and do understand but, would love to know that part of his life and the ones he served with. Thank you for reading and for this site.

There are a couple William F Dyer on the Navy Muster Rolls. Do you know when or where he enlisted?

Hi and thank you for getting back to me. Dad enlisted in Kansas City Kansas I believe. His step fathers name was Roger Holter. He was enlisting under that name (Holter) but as grandpa did not “adopt” him, he was told he had to go by the name Dyer (not really sure of how last name was spelled) he was born Aug 11, 1924.

None of the William F Dyers or William F Holters in the Navy Muster Rolls match the information you provided. The Social Security records show he was born in 1926. He appears in the Census and Social Security records under both names. He also appears on two separate family trees on Ancestry.com as William F Holter.

You can write to the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis for a copy of his Navy records. Their website will tell you how to do it. As a child you should receive the entire file. It will take several months, however. You can pay a private researcher to pull the records and you will get them faster, usually in a week or two. I recommend Golden Arrow research. http://www.goldenarrowresearch.com/

Hi and thank you for checking for me. I do appreciate it. Ill try to find out more. I do know when he returned from service, he had his named changed legally to Holter. Ill check the places you suggested. God bless and thank you. Also, thank you for serving.

I have this project and we went to a Sematary and we wrote names down but I can not find a web sit to find out any information on him.

I’m looking for information on who would have been a black man in his 20’s named Alexander (he would be in his 80’s now). His unit would have been in Morlenbach for three months starting on March 27, 1945. If anyone has any clues that fit the above criteria, pretty please email me.

Hi I am searching for USAAF airmen (and relatives) who were POWs in Belgium during WW2 and may have been on the ‘phantom train’ which the local resistance saved from going to a concentration camp in 1944.
    Thanks Greg

I found dogtags while going thru my father’s personal items. I would like to locate the owner of the tags and return them to either him or a family member. The name on the tags is Robert H. Akridge, with the # 34338276 and followed by T-42-43-O.

Can you please contact me at [email protected]? I work with a volunteer group that helps research military memerabilia and I can help you get the tag back to his family.

Robert H Akridge with that serial number was from Alabama. He passed away in 1986. His wife passed away in 2014. He appears on a family tree on Ancestry maintained by a great niece. He has three living children. I will contact the great niece to try to get contact information for his children.

Mr. Fitzgerald … Thank You for your assistance.

Mr. Fitzgerald, there’s a couple of Robert H Akridge’s to look at.
    Verified Data
    Serial # 34338276 –
    DOB is 1921, nativity: Alabama
    Residence: Dale Co., Alabama
    Enlistment: 8/18/1942

    Option 1 – Robert Akridge
    Birth:26 Nov 1921
    Enlistment: 9/1/1942
    Death:23 May 1986

    Option 2 – Robert H. Akridge
    Birth: 12 Oct 1921
    Death: ?
Wife: Effie Pentecost, died in 2012. As of her obit, he’s still alive. Still verifying that he is the correct Robert H. Akridge.

What makes you think I did not look at both of them? The Robert H. Arkridge who died in 1986 was the one living in Dale County Alabama at the time of enlistment.

I recently found a dog tag from WW2 belonging to a Mr.
    Wiliam T. Terry
    33505092 T42-45 o
With a “P” in the right hand side I’d love to find the owner or family please help I’m running out of resources! When I look up the army serial # it said his name was William spelled with 2 “L” but on the tag itself it’s only one so I’m perplexed

Quick question, Does it say on the tag his middle initial is W or T? Looking at the enlistment contract it says his middle initial is W.

Im a West Point graduate Class of 2012, I am honestly honored and dumbfounded to meet those veterans of WWII. I stop everyone in the VA hospital as often as I can to show them my appreciation in Gainesvilled, FL. I know I am young and don’t carry a lot of public value, but honestly I want to carry these stories beyond anyone and I love meeting those who fought the toughest fight. Much appreciated.

A marine corp medal was found in a unclaimed car in a tow yard. In a box of antiques, was this very old medal. There was a piece of paper in the box with the name Walter Nugent Hibson on it. How can I find out if he was a marine? If he is still living I would like him to have it back or at least get it to his next of kin. If he was given it, then he certainly deserved it back.

I am looking for any information regarding my uncle, Bert Stanwood, who was killed in WWII and buried in France. I am his only living relative. I can’t seem to find a government site that would give me any info, only ads for a membership to Ancestry.com. Info on how to search the right sites would be very much appreciated. Dankie.

How much more info can you give? Is his first name Bert or Albert? Do you know approx. when/where he was born?

A 45-year old granddaughter of a WWII Vet is seeking to identify him in Mystery 1 at https://ancestralmysteries.wordpress.com/2015/11/16/6/. That link includes possible photos of him.

my dad, Myron Lewis Jones, PT boats. can’t find a thing, appreciate any help.

I don’t know if I’m posting this in the correct place. I have requested my dad’s service record from WWll. Hopefully they escaped the fire. Does anyone know if his DD214 will have the story of why my dad received a Bronze Star or just that he received one? Dankie by voorbaat

Wanted to inquire if anyone knew what kind of pin or badge this is…WWll battle of saipan was the location …shows name rank and serial of st sgt david dugdale ….but why it is issued is unknown

This is a privately made token. These were custom made in a machine where you turned a wheel to line up the letters to impress them on the token. The machines were often found at carnivals and similar venues. I have seen a handful with wartime messages all of which were from the Pacific. I assume there was an R&R site somewhere there that had one of the machines.

i have one of the token with me that we found here on saipan. any guidance an information about family and relative is appreciated.

Looking for information on army enlisted charles edward peters jr. Helped liberate buchenwald concentration camp. Wife is mary Louise peters. He passed away in 1989.

My father is now deceased. I am trying to get a picture of him in uniform as no one in the family seems to have one. They are putting the Veterans picture up lining our streets. I so want a picture of him on the pole outside of my home to recognise his service to his country. In the service he was known as Pfc Elwin R Barnes 33 462 091in the Army. His discharge paper says 3043rd Grave Registration Company, Seperation Center Fort George G Meade MD. He insisted he was in the Infantry. Can someone please help me out?? Dad was in the service before I was born. I loved him dearly and feel he deserves to have his place of being honored for serving his country by putting his picture up for all to see.

Did anyone serve in the 5th army with my dad, Andy Broderick from jersey city
NJ or with my uncle John Duffy in the Coast Guard?
    Love to hear from you
My dad drove a munitions truck

When was your uncle in the CG? What company in boot camp?

Hello, my friend has a Baha’i prayer book in which there are dates and 17 different locations beginning in California in April 1944, then through England and France to August of 1944. The dates and 10 more locations start again in different hand writing in April of 1945 through September 1945, ending at Camp New York, Riems.

I realize this is a long shot, but we thought it would be really cool to try to find out the units involved or more. The first soldier was most likely a Baha’i. It would be neat for us to try to find out as much as possible as Baha’is at that time were few and far between.

Is anyone familiar with the best ways of doing this sort of thing backwards since we do not have a name or any other info aside from dates and locations.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I’m looking for information on a relative of mine, his name was Lowell A DuBois, SR and on his headstone it says TEC5 US ARMY, WORLD WAR TWO
